What unlock.domains processes
We collect only what is needed to generate names, check them, and keep the service reliable.
Ideas and AI responses
Your prompt and the generated response are sent to OpenAI, the AI provider configured for this deployment. OpenAI conversation state is enabled so follow-up prompts retain context; OpenAI documents a default 30-day application-state retention period for Responses API data. Do not submit secrets or highly sensitive information.
Availability checks
Generated domain names are sent to public DNS, RDAP, and WHOIS services. Those registry services may receive the server's network address and the domain being checked.
Browser storage
Your theme, preferred registrar, and saved domains are stored locally in your browser. They are not synced to an unlock.domains account. You can clear them at any time by removing this site's browser data.
Analytics and affiliate links
Site fonts, styles, and application scripts are served by unlock.domains. When analytics is explicitly enabled for a deployment, Google Analytics receives ordinary usage measurements. Registrar links pass through our outbound redirect so we can count clicks and apply an affiliate code. We may earn a commission, at no additional cost to you.
Operational logs
We record limited technical events needed to diagnose failures, enforce rate limits, and measure outbound clicks. User prompt text is not intentionally written to application logs.
